HAVE YOU ever been in a situation where you needed to do simple math and struggled for the answer? Do you consider yourself no good at math? (Or, to be blunt, have you ever flunked a math class?)
Everyday problems that call for basic arithmetic and math calculations need not be solved with the help of your calculator. Fast solutions through pure mental math are achievable — even for kids!
Right from the top of your head:
Can you honestly pull these off all in your head? Or do you get easily nauseated by the numbers. We believe solving complex math problems should be easy, as 56 x 34 should be come to us like how easily we do with 1+1.
Knowledge is Power
Improve your math skills by being a human calculator! All you really need is a few minutes of your time, a tremendous interest in refining your calculating skills, and the finest resources to help you buff up your math. With the help of our online courses on math strategies, you will learn to:
By using the strategies in this course you’ll begin to have an overwhelming feeling of how easy and fun math can be. Read through the following examples on your own; it will prove a strong point that even the toughest of math problems can be made easy if approached differently.
Going back:
Uhhm.. sorry mate, no can do.
Do you know what results from 19 x 18?
Ah-hah! We know your immediate impulse is to reach for that pocket calculator or that calculator function on your mobile phone. Tell you what, let’s just skip the shortcuts for now. Believe it or not, once you begin to know there are quick strategies for solving factors 1-20 in your head, you will know what we’re talking about.
So, to solve this quick, form a
19
x 18
___
on your head, like we did at grade school. Always remember the top number 19. Add that with the “ones” digit of the second factor, which is 8, so
19 + 8 = 27
Multiply the result by 10, or just add a zero to it (270).
Now, take the “ones” digits from both factors. In this case, “9″ from above and “8″ from below. Multiply these numbers, like so:
9 x 8 = 72
Finally, add the previous result which you multiplied by 10, and the latest product:
270 + 72 = 342
Voila! Your answer is 342. Want to check it out?
19
x 18
342
The advancement and perfection of Mathematics are intimately connected with the prosperity of the state.
- Napoleon Bonaparte
for simplicity’s sake. Take the “tenths” digit of the two numbers (the left-most numbers), and add it up.
4 + 7 = 11

Next, take the “ones” digit of the two numbers (the right-hand numbers), and add it up, keeping the last sum (11) in mind.
9 + 7 = 16
Following that, line up the results this way:
1 1 and 1 6
Since the sum of the “ones” numbers is a two-digit number (16), “1″ should naturally be carried over and added to “11″, like so:
1 1+1 6
1 2 6
126
So, all in all, your son owes you a hefty $126.50 for being too busy on the phone!
Math for Everyday Life
Is math really that important in our day to day life? After all, we do have calculators to do math for us, right?
Having calculators small enough to carry in our shirt pocket is not a good reason to discount the advantage of knowing how to do math in our head on a daily basis. We have become lazy in our daily routine as new inventions have been developed.
By using these courses as your guide, it’s easy developing new thought processes to quickly solve any math problem you encounter!
If people do not believe that mathematics is simple, it is only because they do not realize how complicated life is.
- John Louis von Neumann
If you are a student, whether you are in elementary, middle school, high school or college, and you need help with math you will be able to apply the strategies taught in this course to your life each and everyday. After a couple hours of practice with these strategies you will have a whole new way of looking at math and it will no doubt change the way you look at figures for the rest of your life. Your confidence to study and shine in all subjects after applying our strategies will be dramatically increased.
If you are a parent, you will see a more confident child which is something every concerned parent wishes for.
If you consider yourself an ordinary guy/gal with average math skills and above-average interest in learning math tricks, no worries. These courses are for you!
